I talk about age positivity a lot — and I don’t plan on stopping any time soon.
Not because it’s fashionable, or because it sounds good on a panel discussion, but because I’ve lived long enough to see how easily older women are overlooked. I’ve felt the shift. The subtle assumptions. The unspoken suggestion that as you get older, you should become quieter, smaller, less visible.
And I refuse to accept that.
Getting older hasn’t taken anything away from me. It’s given me confidence, perspective and a far stronger sense of who I am. I know what matters now — and just as importantly, what doesn’t. Age has brought freedom: freedom to try new things, to change direction, and to say yes without asking permission.
Age positivity isn’t about pretending wrinkles don’t exist or trying to turn back the clock. It’s about valuing experience, celebrating individuality, and recognising that growth doesn’t stop at a certain birthday. Reinvention doesn’t come with an expiry date.
If sharing my story helps even one woman feel braver, more visible, or more excited about what comes next, then the conversation is worth having.
That’s why I’ll keep talking — loudly, proudly, and without apology.
